"I Need Help / I’m Okay" Visual Support Cards
These simple, double-sided cards provide children with a non-verbal way to communicate their needs during independent or group tasks.
Why visuals are useful:
-
Reduces anxiety by allowing children to express themselves without needing to speak.
 -
Supports communication for pupils who are non-verbal, shy, or have additional needs such as autism or speech and language difficulties.
 -
Promotes independence by helping children self-monitor and signal when they need adult support or when they’re managing fine.
 -
Encourages focus – reduces interruptions during tasks, allowing staff to respond more effectively.
